Hey Martin,
>My own misconceptions include the definition of a song (In ICS it’s just a sketch - perhaps even just a noise), You can return to stuff after the session and polish it up for release, you must not return to songs to remix them or add to them once they’re ‘done’
It took me a while to work this one out. It all got a lot clearer once I started having other projects that could use my ICS tracks as seed material (e.g. monthly releases on AmieStreet, gigs). It became obvious that ICS tracks needed general tightening up, not to mention sensible mixing and mastering, which kind of fed back into the ICS process, in that I became more relaxed about quality and just focussed on getting the ideas down.
That being said, ICS was (and is) fantastic for getting me going. I see it as the gas in the tank for everything else.
Cheers,
Ben
